Put A Former Prosecutor On Your Side

Alternative Court Methods For Drug Charges

Throughout the state, Texas prisons teem with inmates convicted of drug crimes. But increased incarceration for drug charges has not stopped or even reduced the problem. As an alternative to traditional penalties, Collin County has adopted a drug court program. The program is designed to identify and treat the underlying cause of drug charges while promoting lawful behavior to reduce repeat offenses.

Stephen H. Miller, Attorney at Law, has more than 35 years of experience working within the criminal justice system in Collin County. His in-depth knowledge of the local court system and experience as a former prosecutor allows him to pursue and recommend alternative punishment methods for drug crimes.

Program Eligibility

With a focus on treating addiction, the drug court program encourages behavior modification and accountability. The success rate of these court-supervised programs is undeniable: Less than one participant in 10 who complete the program re-offend, and they rarely return to drug use.

To be eligible to participate, you must:

  • Reside in Collin County
  • Apply for the program voluntarily
  • Submit to a substance abuse evaluation
  • Be willing to participate in supervision and substance abuse treatment methods
  • Be charged with a qualifying offense, including first-time DWI offense with high BAC or accident, first-time DWI with drugs or a second-offense drug possession misdemeanor

Steering You Toward Recovery Instead Of Prison
